Powerball's jackpot soars to $1.3 billion, marking the fourth-largest prize in the game's history.

WASHINGTON (TND) — The staggering Powerball jackpot remains elusive, soaring to an impressive $1.3 billion ahead of Saturday night's draw. This colossal sum ranks as the fourth largest in the game's history and the eighth largest in U.S. lottery annals, with a tempting cash alternative now estimated at $608.9 million.

Mark William Bracken, the executive director of the Massachusetts State Lottery, stressed the importance of responsible play amidst the escalating jackpot frenzy. "As this jackpot escalates towards unprecedented heights, it's crucial for players to engage responsibly and within their financial means," he emphasized in a recent press release.

Powerball enthusiasts can secure their chance at fortune for just $2 per ticket, with sales closing at 9:50 p.m. on Saturday, as outlined in the release. This upcoming draw marks the forty-first since the jackpot was last claimed on January 1, when a lucky ticket sold in Michigan clinched an $842.4 million windfall.

"The current $1.3 billion jackpot stands as the largest in Powerball's recent memory since October 11, 2023, when a staggering $1.765 billion prize was secured by a Californian ticket holder," the release highlighted. "This ongoing Powerball jackpot streak equals the game's record for the most consecutive draws without a grand prize winner."
